If the big retailer adverts on TV weren’t serving as enough of a prompt, it’s fair to say we’re now racing ahead into the festive season.
Christmas isn’t just for the giants of the retail world. It is a great time for business product resellers to make their mark, whether they primarily serve other businesses or want the man and woman on the street to sit up and take notice.
Now is a stellar opportunity to grab some attention for your offers and services. Here are six ways to go about it:
1. Decorate your web space
Make sure that your web presence has a Christmas feel. Use your discretion on timings but mid November onwards is usually recognised as an acceptable time for Christmas promotions.
Think about tweaking the design of your home page and social media profiles with elements like snow, reindeer sleighs or St Nicholas himself.
2. Go festive with hashtags
Why not create some social media themes around Christmas? Promote relevant products with festive hashtags such as #Christmas, #presents, #gifts and #stockingfillers.
3. Promote Christmas gifts
Promote any ranges that will work well as Christmas presents on your website and make it easy for people to find gifts with sections on ‘For him’, ‘For her’, ‘Secret Santa’ and ‘Stocking fillers’.
From FS to Traditional OP, there are ideas galore, from coffee machines and boxes of chocolates to design friendly notebooks and quality writing pens.
4. Countdown to Christmas promotions
Consider a special promotion for the festive season. This could be a ’12 days to Christmas’ or ‘get ready for the holiday season’ with ideas for essential winter products, presents or stocking up for the new year.
5. Wish callers a Merry Christmas
Don’t forget to change your telephone hold and answer phone messages to acknowledge Christmas or the holidays, but make a reminder to change this back by 2 January.
6. Give something back
It’s all about giving at Christmas and this could give your business a chance to do something in your community and promote a key category, like facilities supplies, at the same time.
Whether you get together a team to spread rock salt outside a local nursery, care home or school or donate useful stationery to a local charity, you could let your local media know and share photos from the event on your social media channels.
